      I second Quora User’s opinion and highly recommend “The Cambridge History Of Iran” series. They cost a lot though in both ebook and hardcopy formats. See if they are available in Digital Library of Free Books, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine which. I don't know very much about the history of Persia, but I am very enamored with history in general and with Roman history in particular. Massively important events in Roman history were shaped by interactions with great rulers from the east (i.e. Shapur I, Shapur II, Mithridates I, Mithridates VI.) but, having only ever taken classes on American/European history, as soon as these crises pass.

    This book is the first to demonstrate the true importance of not only royal but non-royal women in Persia, with the benefit of contemporary Persian and Babylonian sources. By approaching the subjectfrom a Near Eastern perspective, and thoroughly re-examining the Greek sources, the author brings to life a rich and much more detailed picture of.   List of the Kings of the Persian Empire (Wikipedia) Daniel represents Media and Persia as the two horns of a ram.
